This week is the final time I’ll be preaching as the Senior Pastor of Hope City Church.
As I’ve been reflecting this week, I realized that I’ve stepped up to that pulpit over 300 times in the last 12 years. In all that time, I’ve never taken for granted, or become familiar with, the honour it has been to bring God’s word to you.
But bringing God’s Word doesn’t mean much if there aren’t people who will be hearers and doers of that Word. And for this, I want to thank you.
I want to thank you because you’ve always received God’s word with an open heart. It hasn’t been a blind acceptance of what’s been said – you guys are a very cerebral church and I appreciate that so much. But you have received God’s Word with an obvious desire to apply it to your life and circumstance – regardless of how difficult that has proven to be sometimes.
I want to thank you because week to week, I’ve felt challenged to give my best in studying and delivering God’s Word – because I always knew that there was a hungry group of people ready to receive it.
So this will be the last opportunity I get to do that – at least as Senior Pastor. But I want you to know that I have counted it a great responsibility and a very great privilege. Thank you for being there, week in and week out, to hear, apply and outwork God’s Word for our church and for your life.
My prayer is that this last time I preach under the anointing as your Senior Pastor will be something that impacts your life moving forward – bringing blessing in all your interactions and glory to Jesus.
Can’t wait to see you on Sunday.
