Dawn of a New Season

Categories: Featured,From Alex and Sarah

Hey Church,

By the time you read this, I’ll be in Chinchilla with Ps Lee Dallmann. His church has become a pivotal part of the community there and has great influence into many spheres. I’m looking forward to talking with him about community influence.

As I write this, I’m reflecting on the last few nights with Ps Don McDonell. A phenomenal time where many were touched, healed and transformed by an encounter with God. I have to say, a weekend like that is a great way to go out.

I’m just hours away from dropping Ps Don at the airport and embarking on what I believe will be a transitional time to a new season. An exciting season in our life as a church.

There have been so many things leading up to this next 3 months of Sabbatical/Long Service Leave. In my life personally and in our church, everything is pointing to this next 3 months being a drawing back of the bowstring. A time where God is readying us to launch us into something new in 2017.

As we come to the point of releasing the 2 campuses to autonomy; as we come to the time of great activity around our building at 180 South Pine Rd; as we come to the time of greater focus on what God wants to do in our church here in Brisbane. As Sarah and I come to the new season of empty-nesterhood; as we come to the time of having Ps Mike & Karen Mackerell inputting into the life of our church.

All these things converging on this moment in time. Too much for it all to simply be co-incidental. Too many things where God has revealed His fingerprints and shown He is at work.

And at the convergence point of all these things, God gives us a break point. A time to refresh, restore and re-vision around what He wants to do in our church moving forward into this next decade.

Can I ask you to be in prayer over this next few months particularly praying for God to bring great clarity around the future of Hope City Church and what it means to bring change to our city. Can I ask you to be praying for God to speak clearly to all of us around our part to play in the future that God is shaping for us.

We love you church and are so grateful to God for all you have been in our lives and family over the last 11 years. We anticipate the next decade with excitement and faith at what more God wants to do with us together.

We won’t see you before so I pray a safe and blessed Christmas season over you and your family.
